Highlight:
Passive House Forest Retreat in British Columbia is designed to meet the Passive House Premium standard, integrating advanced building science with a refined contemporary architectural language. Positioned on a south-facing ridge, it maximizes solar gain through strategic siting and glazing placement. The 2-storey structure combines insulated concrete forms with wood framing, maintaining a continuous, thermal bridge-free envelope and exceptional airtightness. Triple-glazed certified windows enhance energy performance and natural light whilst preserving views to surrounding landscape. Mechanical systems include a high-efficiency ERV for constant fresh air and radiant geothermal heating and cooling for year-round comfort. Driving these systems, a rooftop solar array enables net-positive energy operation. Pushing boundaries with its unique building form and elevated detailing, the project exhibits a synthesis of rigorous Passive House standards without compromise to aesthetic quality.
